HMS Hood- Centenary Commemoration

Our Regional Liaison Officer for Scotland and Northern Ireland, Mark Harris, proudly accompanied local schoolboy, Logan Gear from Luss, to the Centenary Commemoration of the laying of HMS Hood’s keel.

Logan’s Great-Great-Grandfather was a Riveter on HMS Hood, and his family have worked in and around the shipyards ever since. Logan is immensely proud of his families links to such an iconic ship and has studied every aspect of the Hoods history (including the fact that there were 10,000,000 rivets used in its construction)

With a little help from the Naval Families Federation, Logan was personally invited to the event and spent some time talking to veterans and family members of the ships company. He was also interviewed for STV News, please click here to watch.

We’d like to thank Captain Chris McGinley (RMR) and William Sutherland (Cdr Rtd) for all their help in making this happen.
