NFF Recognition Award
HM Naval Base Clyde recently hosted the first ever Submarine Oscars. The award ceremony saw twelve trophies being presented, including a Naval Families Federation (NFF) Recognition Award.
As part of our remit to represent Naval Service families, we have had the honour to meet some truly inspirational people. This award ceremony gave us an opportunity to recognise and reward the hard work of someone who we think has gone above and beyond to support Naval Service families in Helensburgh.
We were spoilt for choice of people to whom to present this award, but there was one person who stood out. That person was Lisa Grieveson. Whether representing her area on the Estates Committee, pitching children’s books at the Helensburgh Fair in the Square, volunteering at families’ events, or securing the backing and support of key people in her role for Recruit for Spouses (RfS), Lisa has made a real difference to the community.
The NFF’s Families Engagement Officer for Scotland and Northern Ireland, Mark Harris, presented Lisa with the award and said: “There are a number of Service spouses who do a great deal for our community, and this commitment, passion and determination to make things happen is what being part of the Naval Service is all about. Lisa is the embodiment of this and we all would like to thank her for her efforts.”
Rear Admiral John Weale, the Head of the UK Submarine Service, said: “It was a magnificent evening…the achievements of the award winners were something to shout about. Each, in their own way, has contributed significantly to supporting our operations, vessels, personnel and families and I would like to thank them all for their tireless work and dedication.”
