3. Gibraltar

  • Service Personnel assigned to Gibraltar should be issued with a ‘Guide to Gibraltar’ which is available from the MODNET – HQBF Gibraltar page. This will provide you with Gibraltar specific information including what life is like, local facilities etc.
  • Four Corners is the SFA area and has the HELM Point (Housing, Education, Leisure and Meeting Point) which is home to the Community Centre, HIVE, Families Housing Services, NAAFI shop, St Christopher’s Primary School and the Sunflowers Nursery, swimming pool, small gym and a private sailing club. It is a safe area for children to play and boasts four play parks for varying ages, a tennis court and has a gate access to Western Beach.
  • SFA – is apartments and there is no storage in Gibraltar for any larger items of furniture, any large furniture you bring with you must fit in/be stored in your apartment.

4. International HIVE (iHIVE) and local information

When assigned overseas the International Hive information service (iHIVE) will provide Tri-Service support and up to date and relevant information for all oversea locations. Through researched information, overseas location guides will provide easy access to relevant information regarding the overseas location and include researched information on several key topics including health, education, welfare and local facilities plus details of the various policies that support those overseas. The guides, available to view or download via the web, also include useful contacts. The guides are developed to help personnel and their families understand more about locations overseas and can be used to decide if specific location are suitable for overseas assignment for the Serving person and their family.
